Ashiatsu Massage Workshop and Certification

This course covers a brief history of various barefoot massage styles, benefits and contraindications for both the client and practitioner. It also covers foot care, self care, attire, table weight requirements, preparation, anatomy, lubricants, terminology, bar options and installation. We will also discuss client draping and barefoot massage techniques, both seated and standing, applied to the posterior of the client's body, along with tips for their execution. Lastly, the class will learn a protocol they can start using and later modify as they master the individual techniques.

Learning Outcomes:

Students will be able to: 1) Describe the benefits of barefoot massage for the practitioner and client. 2) Describe the contraindications of barefoot massage for the practitioner and client. 3) Learn self care techniques to improve core strength required for seated techniques. 4) Demonstrate balancing movements for standing techniques. 5) Answer questions regarding a brief history of barefoot massage. 6) Know table weight requirements. 7) Know safety precautions. 8) Demonstrate proper foot care. 9) Describe proper attire. 10) Demonstrate 20 seated Ashiatsu techniques. 11) Demonstrate 12 standing Ashiatsu techniques. 12) Show how to safely transfer from a seated to a standing position. 13) Demonstrate proper draping techniques. 14) Understand bar installation options. 15) Know the correct ratio of foot cleaning solution. 16) Show proper body mechanics when performing both seated and standing techniques. 17) Demonstrate a basic posterior protocol of seated techniques. 18) Demonstrate a basic posterior protocol for standing techniques.
